The Manukau Tramping Club was
formed in 1976 by a group of like minded individuals. Today,
membership is around 120, with ages ranging from early teens, to
people in their eighties! Our club members welcome and invite
any new people to attend our tramps. We always like to see some
new faces in the group!
Tramps are held on every weekend throughout the year. There are
two tramps held on Sundays, with one being light suitable for
beginners or people with limited time. The second tramp would
suit those with a medium to high level of fitness and tramping
experience. In addition to day tramps, 2 or 3 day weekend tramps
and other trips spanning several days are held regularly.
Details about tramps are listed on the
about page and our events calendar can be found on the
events page.
Our 2009 trips included a visit to the
Chatham Islands in January, Cape Brett Walkway in
March, Kaimais at Queen’s Birthday Weekend, a Beginners Mountain
Weekend in August, Waitomo at Labour Weekend, a canoe trip down
the Whanganui
River in November and the Tongariro
Alpine Crossing in December.
We have more exciting weekend trips coming up for 2010,
including a Fiordland Discovery Cruise in May.
