Karaka Loop
9th May

Nine people chose to join me to walk up into the hills
behind Thames. The day was overcast but not cold, the
car shuttle went smoothly and we were off up the old old
logging road, maybe it was used for access to gold
seeking areas also as we saw shaft along the way.
Up on the ridge the views were impressive over the Firth
of Thames but the wind a little chilly to stop there for
morning tea. Further on we met a man with a locator
device telling him where the dogs were with the pig they
had caught. We came across many areas of pig damage and
appreciated the importance of hunters.
From the back ridge were panoramic views of the ranges
then Table Mountain came into view and what we
thought could have been the Pinnacles( just tiny pimples
on the skyline).
Downhill through beautiful bush to follow first a
tributary and then the Karaka stream back to the car.
Thanks everyone for a good day's tramping.
